Composite bonding is an excellent solution for filling chips, fractures and gaps in your teeth as well as resolving discolouration
Composite bonding (also known as tooth bonding or dental bonding) offers an excellent solution for minor damage or gaps in your teeth, helping to improve their appearance and helping you to smile with confidence.
Composite-resin is a tooth-coloured substance that is applied to your teeth to change their shape, lengthen them and mask any discolorations. The procedure can help to fill gaps between teeth, restore the shape of chipped teeth or just change the look of your smile to fix anything you are unhappy with. As the colour of the resin is matched to your teeth, it will appear as a completely natural part of the tooth.
What to expect from your composite bonding treatment?
Composite bonding is a fast and effective treatment option to fix minor cosmetic issues and instantly improve the appearance of your teeth.
The composite is applied and then hardened using a UV light meaning that you can expect to be able to comfortably bite down by the end of the appointment. Bonding is also a non-invasive procedure. With alternatives such as crowns and veneers, part of the tooth is permanently removed. For composite bonding to be applied, the surface of the tooth only has to be roughened to help the resin to bond, meaning the structure of the tooth remains intact.
We will schedule two appointments to help you design your new smile and then restore your teeth to your specifications. You may need to return for final finishing and polishing at a later date, just to make sure everything is perfect.
How long does composite bonding last?
With regular brushing and good oral hygiene, your composite bonds should last for several years. Composite bonding can stain and chip over time but the great thing is that your teeth underneath are still perfectly healthy and so we can repair and polish them easily.
