Implant dentistry is the fastest growing branch of modern dentistry with new techniques and products constantly coming on the market. At dental implant solutions we are always on the look out for ways of making implant dentistry more accessible and available for those people challenged by poor dental function or appearance.
Dental implants have been in use for almost as long as humans have been using technology. They date back hundreds if not thousands of years — with varying degrees of success. Today, dental implantology is a safe and well established practice. However this was not always the case, with dental implants having an interesting and sometimes gruesome past.
Case Summary. A middle aged gentleman was advised to visit Dr Chris Wood after falling over in the bath and knocking out two front teeth. He was upset at the thought of wearing a ‘wobbly plastic plate’ for the rest of his life. Chris followed the normal procedures of examination, diagnosis and treatment planning, followed by provision of two implant supported ceramic crowns. Mr D’s confidence was restored, it now felt like he had his own teeth back again.

Chris undertook the normal treatment stages of examination, treatment plan discussion, treatment planning, surgery and provision of a new implant supported denture. Mr B was literally ‘amazed’ at the difference between his original loose, painful denture and his new comfortable, stable implant denture.

Dental Implants are without question the modern way to replace missing teeth. Small Titanium ‘replacement roots’ are used to anchor new teeth. This can be a single tooth, maybe lost through an accident or infection, several teeth, which may have been lost over a number of years for various reasons or a whole set of teeth, maybe lost through the effects of gum disease or neglect.
Chris and his Implant Coordinator Jane Bower led two very successful lunch time presentations last month. Causeway dental practice Bicester and 52 Cornmarket St Witney, both participated in lunch time seminars covering updates in Implant Dentistry and modern techniques for restoring dental implants.
The Wand was developed to replace the traditional syringe in dentistry. This computer controlled anaesthetic delivery system is a logical progression from the syringe which has seen little change since it’s invention more than 150 years ago. 'With The Wand, dentists can bring one of dentistry’s last remaining antiquated designs into the 21st Century'.
